Jared & Meg Copeland
Hamilton County, Indiana
About the Farm
Jared and Meg Copeland started Sunrise Free-Range Farm in 2018 after Meg, a former professional chef, grew frustrated with what she kept finding at the grocery store. "I knew what a real egg tasted like," she says. "What was on supermarket shelves wasn't it."
They now run a flock of about 400 laying hens, a mix of heritage breeds including Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorps, and Rhode Island Reds, that rotate through pasture on a 22-acre property in Hamilton County. Access to fresh grass, insects, and open sky every single day. The eggs show it: deep orange yolks, firm whites, and flavor that makes them hard to go back from.
In addition to eggs, they raise heritage breed meat chickens seasonally and offer whole Thanksgiving turkeys by reservation each fall. Everything is sold direct. No distributors, no stores.
