The Nguyen Family
Bartholomew County, Indiana
About the Farm
The Nguyen family moved to Bartholomew County from Vietnam in 2001 and spent their first decade in Indiana working in local industry. In 2012, David and his parents began farming a small plot on the edge of Columbus, growing vegetables they couldn't find locally and plenty of the staples too.
Today, Hoosier Harvest Produce farms just over 8 acres using certified naturally grown practices: no synthetic pesticides, no chemical fertilizers. Just cover crops, compost, and careful attention to the soil. They grow a wide variety suited to Indiana's seasons: tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, Asian greens, sweet corn, green beans, and fresh herbs, plus year-round greens in their high tunnel.
They sell through a popular CSA running May through October, at the Columbus Farmers Market, and increasingly through direct orders from local restaurants that want to know exactly where their produce comes from.
