The Eash Family
Steuben County, Indiana
About the Farm
The story of Country Meadows Farm begins in 1879, the same year Edison invented the light bulb, when Samuel P. Perkins purchased the land that would be passed down through five generations of the same family. Through the Great Depression, farming accidents, and the ever-changing landscape of American agriculture, each generation found a way to carry the farm forward.
Today, Bob and Debbie Perkins run the operation, bringing together a diverse mix of Jersey, Holstein, and crossbred dairy cows, Berkshire hogs, Dorper/Katahadin sheep, and chickens across a farm that is over 90% hay and pasture ground. Their commitment to rotational grazing and regenerative farming practices reflects a deep belief that healthy soil grows healthier plants, which in turn raise healthier animals, reducing the need for antibiotics and growth hormones.
Country Meadows Farm is both a living piece of Indiana history and a forward-looking example of what sustainable, multi-generational agriculture can look like.
